1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files — typically just a few kilobytes in size — that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They act as a kind of "memory" for the website, allowing it to recognise your device and remember information about your visit, such as your preferred language, region settings, or items you have added to a basket.

Cookies are widely used because they are essential to the basic functionality of most modern websites. Without them, many features you take for granted — such as staying logged in, remembering form entries, or displaying content relevant to your location — would not be possible.

Cookies cannot access other files on your device, run programs, or carry viruses. They do not contain personal information on their own, although they may be linked to information you have provided or that is collected through other means.

2. Why we use cookies

We use cookies for a number of important reasons. Broadly, these fall into the following categories:

01
To make the website work properly

These are strictly necessary cookies that enable core features such as page navigation, secure log-in areas, and protection against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). The website cannot function correctly without them.

02
To remember your preferences

We use functional cookies to remember choices you make — such as which audience mode you have selected (home, commercial, or trade) — so we can provide a more personalised experience each time you visit.

03
To understand how the website is used

Analytics cookies help us build a picture of how visitors interact with the website — which pages are most popular, how long people spend on each page, and where visitors arrive from. This information helps us improve the website and ensure it meets the needs of our users.

04
To remember your consent choices

When you set your cookie preferences using our consent banner, we store a cookie to remember which categories you have accepted or rejected, so we do not ask you again on each page load.

3. Types of cookies we use

Cookies can be classified in different ways. Below we explain the categories relevant to this website.

By purpose

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function. They enable basic features such as security, account authentication, and page navigation. They cannot be switched off because the site would not work without them. These cookies do not collect any information that could identify you personally.

Functional cookies

These cookies allow the website to remember choices you have made in the past — such as your selected audience mode, font size, or other display preferences — and provide enhanced, personalised features. They may also be used to provide services you have asked for, such as watching a video or commenting on a blog.

Analytics cookies

These cookies collect information about how visitors use the website, for instance which pages are visited most often, whether visitors receive error messages, and how visitors arrive at the site. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated and therefore anonymous. They are used only to improve how the website works.

By duration

Session cookies

These are temporary cookies that are deleted from your device when you close your browser. They are generally used to keep track of your activity during a single browsing session — for example, remembering items in a form as you move between pages.

Persistent cookies

These cookies remain on your device after you close your browser and are used to remember your preferences or actions across multiple visits. They have a set expiry date — ranging from a few days to up to two years — after which they are automatically deleted.

4. Detailed list of cookies

kentures_consent Necessary 1 year

Stores your cookie consent preferences — which categories of cookies you have accepted or rejected — so we can honour your choices on subsequent page loads and visits without re-prompting.

kentures_audience Functional 30 days

Remembers which audience mode you have selected (home, commercial, or trade) so the site shows you relevant content, pricing, and product information when you return.

PHPSESSID Necessary Session

A standard PHP session cookie used to identify your current browsing session on the server. It enables the website to maintain state — for example, keeping track of form submissions as you navigate between pages.

wordpress_* Necessary Session / varies

Standard WordPress login and authentication cookies. They verify that you are logged in and that your session is associated with the correct user account. These also include security tokens that help protect against CSRF attacks.

wp-settings-* Necessary 1 year

WordPress customisation cookies used to persist your admin panel display preferences — such as the collapsed or expanded state of the admin menu — between sessions.

_ga Analytics 2 years

The primary Google Analytics (Universal Analytics) cookie. It assigns a unique, randomly generated ID to your device and uses it to distinguish you from other visitors. This allows us to see aggregate statistics such as the number of visitors, average session duration, and pages per session.

_gid Analytics 24 hours

A Google Analytics cookie used to distinguish individual users within a 24-hour period. It is primarily used to differentiate new and returning visitors for more accurate session counting.

_ga_* Analytics 2 years

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) session state cookie. It maintains the state of a single session — tracking page views, events, and interactions — and expires when the session ends or after a period of inactivity.

_gat Analytics 1 minute

A Google Analytics rate-limiting cookie used to throttle the request rate to the Analytics reporting endpoint. It ensures that high-traffic pages do not overwhelm the service and that data collection remains reliable.

Note: The list above reflects the cookies currently in use. We may add or remove cookies from time to time as the website evolves. Any material changes will be reflected in an updated version of this policy.

5. Third-party cookies

Some of the cookies set on this website are placed by third-party services rather than directly by us. Specifically, we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to collect and analyse visitor data.

Google Analytics uses cookies to estimate the number of unique visitors to the site, the volume of traffic, and how visitors navigate between pages. This data is aggregated and reported to us in an anonymised form — it does not allow us to identify individual users.

We have configured Google Analytics to anonymise IP addresses (using the "anonymizeIp" setting), meaning your full IP address is never stored or transmitted to Google's servers. For more information about how Google uses your data, please refer to Google's privacy policy.

If you choose to opt out of Google Analytics cookies through our consent banner or your browser settings, no Google Analytics cookies will be set on your device and no analytical data will be collected from your visit.

6. Similar technologies

In addition to cookies, we may use other technologies that perform similar functions. These include:

  • Local Storage and Session Storage: These are web browser features that allow websites to store small amounts of data directly on your device, similar to cookies but with greater capacity and no automatic expiry. We may use local storage to save your audience preference or other settings for a faster, more seamless experience.
  • Pixel tags (web beacons): These are tiny, transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that allow us to determine whether a page has been viewed or an email has been opened. We do not currently use pixel tags for marketing or tracking purposes, but they may be employed in future for analytics or to verify email delivery.

Where we use these technologies in a way that is not strictly necessary, we will seek your consent in the same way as we do for cookies.

8. How to control cookies

In addition to the consent banner on our website, you have full control over cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete individual cookies
  • Block all cookies from being set
  • Block only third-party cookies
  • Set your browser to alert you whenever a cookie is about to be placed
  • Delete all cookies when you close your browser

Disabling or blocking cookies may affect the functionality of this website. In particular, the audience preference feature will not work without the kentures_audience cookie, and you may be prompted to set your preferences more frequently. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled without preventing the site from functioning correctly.

Browser-specific instructions

For detailed, up-to-date instructions on managing cookies in your browser, please visit the relevant help pages:

Google Chrome Mozilla Firefox Safari (macOS) Safari (iOS) Microsoft Edge Internet Explorer

You can also visit allaboutcookies.org for general information about cookies and how to manage them across different browsers and devices.

9. Do Not Track

Some browsers support a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites indicating that you do not wish to be tracked. At present, there is no universally agreed standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals.

Rather than relying on DNT, we provide our own consent mechanism (the cookie banner) which gives you clear, granular control over which categories of cookies are set on your device. We believe this approach provides more transparency and choice than the DNT signal alone.

10. International visitors

Our website is accessible from around the world. If you are accessing the site from outside the United Kingdom, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the UK. By using our website, you consent to any such transfer.

Different countries and regions may have their own laws regarding the use of cookies. Where local law requires a different level of consent or disclosure, we will endeavour to comply with those requirements. If you have questions about how this policy applies in your jurisdiction, please contact us using the details below.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in technology, or changes in legal and regulatory requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies. If we introduce new categories of cookies or make significant changes to existing ones, we will seek your fresh consent through the cookie consent banner before those cookies are activated.

Your continued use of the website after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
